East Region Long Course Championships
Three Flitwick Dolphins swimmers successfully qualified to
attend the first East Region Long Course Championships held at Norwich last
weekend.
Ian Davies, 24, swam a brilliant
50 metres butterfly in just 28.52 seconds achieving 10th position. 14 year old Stephen Robinson competed in the
50 and 100 metres freestyle in an outstanding 26.86 and 1.00.54 respectively finishing
a very creditable 6th position in the 15 and under age group for the
50 freestyle, and the fastest 14 year old in the whole of the region. Sarah Haslett, 13, also swam in the 15 and
under age group in the 50 and 100 metres freestyle events in times of 30.83 and
1.07.35 achieving new personal bests and pushing up in the overall rankings.
Their coach, Diane Brinkler
attended the competition with the swimmers and was delighted with all their
performances. Within their own age band
they were placed 10th, 1st, 7th, 7th
and 11th.
Flitwick Dolphins Swimming Club,
with additional coaches, a new Squad System and more water time can now train
our swimmers to even higher standards.
The results are beginning to show in all age groups as the club continually
goes from strength to strength.
