Junior League Round 1 – June 2006

Flitwick Dolphins swimmers travelled to Hayes, Middlesex for the First Round of this year’s Milton Keynes & District Junior League on Saturday night.

Tom Winder, Jack McGarry, Aran Chamberlain-Clark and Toby Willson made up the 12 year old Boys Relay Teams scoring maximum points in both Freestyle and Medley events.

The corresponding Girls Relay Teams comprising Ashleigh Jones, Nicole Tilbury, Isabelle Martin, Georgina Halford and Holly Barber swam well although were pipped at the post taking 2^nd and 3^rd places.

9 year old Isabelle Martin swam a magnificent 50m Breaststroke taking 1^st place. She also swam up an age and finished 2^nd for the 11 year olds.

David Allen performed superbly in the 11 year old Boys 50m Butterfly and Freestyle, not only beating his own Personal Bests in both events but setting new Club Records for his age group. A similar achievement went to Aran Chamberlain-Clark who finished the 12 year old 50m Freestyle in 2^nd position.

An impressive 50m Backstroke was swum by Tom Winder, scoring maximum points for 1^st place. He dominated the corresponding Breaststroke event which he also won setting another Record for the Club.

Other swimmers to beat their Personal Best included Harry Willson, Joe McGarry and James Winder, all 9, Hayden Davies and Christopher Murphy, both 10, with Chris setting a New 10 year old record for 25m Butterfly. Sofia Aatkar, Toby Willson, Georgina Halford and Sophie Britton also achieved new Personal Bests during the competition.

All competing swimmers did their Club proud and now look forward to Round 2 to be held next month.
