Junior League Round 2 & Milton Keynes End of Season Meet – July 2006
Flitwick
Dolphins were in Hayes, Middlesex at the weekend for the second round of Junior
League. Having been promoted to
Division 2 this season, the competition was extremely fierce and with the youngsters
fighting every inch of the way, they managed to finish the Round in a very
creditable 5th position.
Closer to home, at Stantonbury, Milton Keynes, fellow swimmers were competing in an Open Meet to mark the End of the Season. Several of the Club’s younger swimmers took part producing some extremely pleasing results. 10 years old Hayden Davies won 3 gold and 3 silver medals and in doing so set a new Club Record in the 400m Freestyle for his age group. Also in the 9-10 year age group swam James Winder who took Bronze for his 100m Breaststroke as well as smashing his Personal Bests in all other events entered.
Christopher
Murphy swam an impressive 100 and 200m Individual Medley winning a silver medal
and setting a new Club Record for the latter.
He also beat Personal Bests in all events entered throughout the
weekend.
Kimberley
Burrows, 12, enjoyed a successful meet with four new Personal Bests as did 11
year old Georgina Halford who completed her 400m Individual Medley in just
6:32.10. Toby Willson, 12, swam an
impressive 400m Individual Medley taking the silver medal. He also smashed his Personal Best in the
200m corresponding event as he did in the 100m Butterfly where he finished
securing Bronze. Fellow swimmer Thomas
Winder won 2 Bronze medals, 2 silvers and a Gold for his 50m Breaststroke
event.
A superb
200m Breaststroke was swum by Jack McGarry, where he won a silver medal, not
only beating his Personal Best but setting a new 12 year old Record for the
Dolphins. He also went home with a further
silver and bronze medal.
Back to
the 9-10 year age group, Colin Weighell stormed to victory in the 50m
Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley swooping a Gold medal for both
events. He also took Silver for his 50m
Freestyle. Aran Chamberlain-Clark won a
Gold medal in the Boys 11-12 year 50m Freestyle and in doing so set yet another
Club Record.
Other
Flitwick Dolphins’ swimmers exceeding Personal Bests during the course of the
weekend included Georgina Stewart, Samantha and Nicole Tilbury, Simon Weighell,
Amy Foley and Lauren Shaw who were all a credit to the Club.
Special
Congratulations go to 13 year old Sarah Haslett for breaking the all-time Club
Record for the 800m Freestyle. Well
done again to both Sarah and also Thomas Winder who were selected to represent
Bedfordshire at the Inter-Counties Gala held in Biggleswade at the weekend.
