Luton Open Meet and Chiltern League Final Round – April 2006
Flitwick Dolphins had a number of
swimmers competing at both the Luton Open and Chiltern League in Dunstable last
weekend. In the Chiltern League the
Dolphins finished overall in a very satisfactory 5th position.
Becky Lovell, Toby Willson, Loren Chamberlain-Clark,
Harry Willson, David Allen and Megan Underwood all won their respective events
as did the 12 years and Under Girls Freestyle Team comprising Sofia Aatkar,
Natasha Abbott, Felicity Gray and Laura Conti.
2nd places were
achieved by Simon Liddle and Laura Conti.
Both girls’ 10 years and Under Medley and Freestyle Relay teams also
finished second, as did the Ladies Open Medley Relay team. Georgina Stewart, 13, swam a brilliant 100M
Backstroke coming 3rd and beating her own Personal Best. Laura Haslett and Simon Liddle also both
finished in 3rd place in their respective Individual Medley
events. Also securing points for 3rd
place were both Boys 12/Under and Ladies Open Freestyle Relay teams.
Meanwhile at the Luton Open Meet 2006, held at
Barnet Copthall, a vast number of Dolphin’s swimmers did their Club proud by
bringing home 9 medals, 61 Personal Bests, 22 Club Records and 8 East Region
Qualifying Times.
Tom
Winder, 11, swam impressively winning the 50M Breaststroke and 50M Backstroke
in 41.30 and 36.21 seconds respectively, coming 2nd in the 50M
Butterfly and 3rd in the 200M Breaststroke setting new Club Records
for all events.
Charlotte Beck, aged 11, swam a magnificent 100M
Backstroke in just 1:16.24 seconds beating not only her Personal Best by
5 seconds but improving her East Region Qualifying time and the Club
Record which she already held. She also
took the Silver for her 100M Butterfly event and Bronze medals in both 50M
Backstroke and 200M Butterfly.
Sarah Haslett, 13, took the Bronze medal into her
possession for the 200M Individual Medley which she completed in 2:43.18 also
gaining her East Region Qualifying Time.
9 year old Isabelle Martin swam superbly in the 50M
and 200M Breaststroke events beating her Personal Bests, setting new Club
Records and gaining her first ever East Region District Qualifying time.
Leah
Neary smashed her 100M Backstroke time by another 4 seconds giving a new
Personal Best of 1:21.26 and Hannah Scotchford improved on her 100M
Breaststroke knocking her Personal Best down to 1:34.50. Colin Weighell, 10, had a brilliant weekend
exceeding Personal Bests in 5 out of 7 of his events as did Hayden Davies who
beat his Personal Best in the 100M Freestyle setting a new 9 year old Club
Record.
Simon
Weighell swam some impressive Backstroke setting new Club Records for both
100M/200M distances gaining his East Region Qualifying times in both his 100M
Back and Freestyle events. Georgina
Halford, 10, completed her 200M Breaststroke in a fantastic time of 3:38.37
giving her a new Personal Best and Club Records for both her finishing time and
also her 100M split.
A
massive Well Done goes out to all swimmers who took part in the
weekend’s events.
