Speedo League Round 2 – Rugby – November 2006

Flitwick Dolphins swam to victory in Round 2 of West Midlands Speedo League Division Two, held in Rugby last night.  The swimmers all performed outstandingly throughout and finished 19 points clear of second-placed Wolverhampton.

The Relay teams proved to be particularly strong scoring maximum points for 1st place in no less than 5 events.  Sarah Haslett finished 1st in the 15 years and under 100m Backstroke, as did Aled Jones in the Men’s Open corresponding event and the Open 100m Butterfly.  Colin Weighell, 11, swam superbly in both 50m Butterfly and 50m Breaststroke securing 1st place as did Georgina Halford in the 10-11 years 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle.  Isabelle Martin stormed ahead of her competition in the 50m Breaststroke winning the Dolphins another 6 points.

A total of 59 Personal Bests were achieved during the course of the evening, the largest of which by Charlotte Beck smashed her best to date down to 1:28.67 minutes for 100m Breaststroke.

This excellent result is a reflection on how well these youngsters have gelled together as a team who now eagerly await the 3rd and Final round next month.
