SPEEDO LEAGUE DIVISION 3, FINAL ROUND, 10 DECEMBER 2005
Flitwick Dolphins competed in the
Final Round of Speedo League Division 3 on Saturday night in
Burton-On-Trent. The Dolphins had an
exciting evening with impressive swims finishing 5th place overall in
the League and putting them in an extremely strong position for promotion next
year. Since the squad re-structure in
September, the swimmers are following a vigorous training schedule, clearly
providing impressive results.
The evening got off to a good
start with Ian Davies swimming a magnificent 100 metres Individual Medley
securing an early 1st place.
This was immediately followed by two more wins by both 11 years and
under Girls and Boys Freestyle Relay teams.
Thomas Winder, 11, stormed into the lead in the 50 metres Backstroke gaining maximum points for Flitwick as well as achieving a new Personal Best time. Jack McGarry, also 11, swam an impressive 50 metres Breaststroke in just 42.35 seconds making another win for the Dolphins as well as giving him a new Personal Best. He also set new Club Records for this event and the 50 metres Freestyle.
Swimming to victory in the Girl’s 50 metres Freestyle in 32.36 seconds was Leah Neary; another Personal Best for her and also a new 11 year old record for the Club.
Aled Jones came back from University to represent Flitwick Dolphins in the Boys Open 100 metres Freestyle event swimming a superb race in 56.78 seconds securing yet another win.
Rounding off the competition were
another series of relays including a 1st place by the 11 and Under
Boys’ team comprising Thomas Winder, Jack McGarry, Toby Wilson and Aran
Chamberlain-Clark.
