Code of Conduct 2011-2012 (Swimmers)
Objective and Scope
The purpose of this document is to establish a set of guidelines and procedures, which outline the responsibilities and behaviour of both staff and swimmers who are members of FDSC. It is expected that the principles of the Code of Conduct should be followed at all Events, Camps (Home or Away) and Training Sessions.
Code of Conduct
Behaviour and Personal Conduct must at all times be of a high standard and reflect favourably on the sport and the Club. Language in public or relevant group situations must always be appropriate and socially acceptable.
Sanctions: Breaches of the Code of Conduct shall be dealt with in the first instance by the Welfare Office, Coach and/or Team Manager. He/She shall report the incident to the Secretary of the Club who shall take such further action as is deemed necessary. Serious breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in expulsion from the Club.
1. Personal Appearance shall be appropriate to the circumstances and as indicated by the Lead Coach and/or Team Manager. . Team kit must be worn when Competing, Training, Award Presentations and Travelling to events.
2. Attendance at all activities (e.g. Meets, Meetings, Social Events, etc) is expected unless agreed by the Head Coach. Swimmers should inform event staff of their whereabouts if not with the team. Punctuality on all occasions is essential. .
3. Training: All training activities should adhere to the FDSC swimming session rules. Swimmers and Parents/Guardians should make themselves familiar with the current FDSC structure and training agreements and ensure these are adhered to.
4. IT: Under no circumstances should IT equipment (Mobile phones, internet chat rooms or similar) be misused by club members for anything relating to the Club, its activities or its members.
5. Medication: It is important that information on all medication currently being taken and Allergies to medication should be reported to the Welfare Office and Team Manager who will report it to the relevant personnel. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to update the ASA Medical Form as and when necessary.
6. Accommodation: For selected events hotels or equivalent are used, and at no times must anyone extra be accommodated in swimmers rooms.
7. Illegal and Performance Enhancing Drugs and Substances are strictly forbidden. Swimmers are expected to be aware of the current list of banned substances and particular care must be exercised if anyone is on medication prior to or during a meet.
8. Illegal Drugs and Substances The use of these, even though they may not appear on the official banned list in respect of performance enhancing drugs, is nonetheless prohibited.
9. Consumption of Alcohol is totally prohibited for athletes under age (as defined by UK Law).
10. Smoking is prohibited by swimmers
In addition it is expected that all members of FDSC, when attending any event or training sessions shall:
· Comply with the codes, rules and laws within the guidelines set out by the ASA
· Behave without discrimination on the grounds of Race, Colour, Language, Religion, Birth or Social Status as set out in the Equal Opportunities Policy.
· Respect the basic Human Rights, worth and dignity of each member.
· Not encourage Swimmers, Volunteers, Officials or Parents to violate the rules of the Club or the sport.
· Observe the authority and the decisions of all Officials.
· Encourage all swimmers to obey the spirit of the rules and laws both in and out of the pool
· Treat other competitors and team with respect, in Victory and Defeat.
